Exercise 60 Minutes to Fight Fat
The U.S. Surgeon General's report on exercise urged Americans to do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise a day. The report said only 12% of Americans exercise vigorously and 50% don't meet the basic recommendation. Bad news for the couch potatoes has come from a study at Brown University that examined over 2,500 overweight people; those who lost weight and kept it off walked or ran at least 10 miles per week and did other exercises, such as weight training or aerobics. To lose weight and keep it off, we must exercise at least 60 minutes or more per day. You don't have to do it all at once-doing several shorter bouts of exercise works just as well.
