5 Vision Board Benefits

If you don’t already have a vision board, here are 5 reasons you should think about putting one together for yourself.

  1. Creating one is fun.
Remember arts and crafts when you were younger?  A vision board gives you the opportunity to reconnect with your inner childhood.  Creating a vision board is like the grown-up version of making a list of the toys you want for your birthday, or for the holidays.  Instead of Barbie and Hot Wheels, it’s dream vacations, promotions, weight loss goals, etc.  Throw a vison board party and have a few friends gather and create one together as a social activity.  Sharing mutual visions with friends and family, gives you an extra incentive because you are holding others (along with yourself) accountable to reach that common goal.
  2. Creating a vison board provides you with incentive.
Having a vision board in a location you see frequently is a constant reminder of what your goals are, and what you want to work towards on a daily basis.  It’s a handy tool to have when you encounter challenges and obstacles along the way.  Pushing through barriers is easier when you have a visual reminder of why you are putting in the work.
  3. A great tool to help with visualization.
Visualization doesn’t come easy to all of us.  While we all can list off the things we don’t want for our lives, getting specific about the things we do want can sometimes be a challenge.  For those of us that aren’t visual, holding a mental picture of what we want for 5 minutes a day seems impossible. Vision boards provide us with physical pictures to focus on, which can help make a goal become a reality.
  4. Let’s us think outside our limitations.
Creating a vision board is an exercise in thinking beyond what you believe is possible.  You may not think that a beach front home or choosing vegetables over potato chips is an attainable goal in the near future. But this tool allows you to open yourself up to the opportunities to make those thoughts and dreams actually happen over time.
  5. It works.
You can do anything you set your mind to.  Just be sure to set your mind towards goals that you can control.  Life will throw you obstacles and unforeseen challenges, but if you surround yourself with great people, you should have the support you need.
