Take a look at your refrigerator. No, look on the inside.
Take a look at the food that’s on shelves, in the drawers and freezer section.
Open up the packaging, and look beyond the marketing labels. What colors do you
see?
If you’re seeing a lot of neutrals and browns, maybe it’s
time to liven up the color in your fridge. At the store or market, look for the
freshest, most colorful food. Look for produce in a variety of hues - greens
and purples, yellows, oranges, and reds. Limit the neutrals and shades of
browns that often accompany processed foods (think hotdogs, chicken nuggets,
cookies, crackers.)
If you make the effort to maintain a colorful fridge,
inevitably, you will be buying – and eating – fresh, vibrant food that provides
your body with the nutrients it needs to be fit and healthy.
